*Jashpur, July 12:* Swami Atmanand Naveen Aadarsh Higher Secondary Excellent English Medium School conducted a vibrant “No Plastic Campaign” on Saturday, aimed at promoting environmental awareness among students and connecting the school with the wider community.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the primary, middle, and high school sections. Principal Mr. Vinod Gupta inaugurated the programme with an inspiring speech, emphasizing the urgent need to reduce plastic usage to protect the environment for future generations. “Plastic pollution has become one of the greatest threats to our planet,” he said, urging everyone to adopt alternatives like cloth, jute, and paper bags.
A significant highlight of the programme was a colourful rally that began from the school premises, proceeded via Jain Temple Road, reached Jashpur Bus Stand, and returned to the school. Students marched holding placards and shouting slogans such as “Say No to Plastic, Save the Earth,” drawing the attention of local residents and shopkeepers along the route. Pamphlets explaining the harmful effects of plastic were distributed to the public.
As part of the campaign, students also participated in various creative activities including slogan writing, poster making, speeches, and street plays (nukkad nataks). These performances highlighted the dangers of plastic pollution and encouraged eco-friendly living. Many posters carried powerful messages like “Refuse Single-Use Plastic” and “Be the Change for a Greener Tomorrow.”
Teachers Mr. B. Bhaumik, Mrs. Rohini Sinha, Mr. Samir, Mr. Suresh Tandi, Mr. Vikash Pandey, Mr. Niranjan Kujur, Mrs. Savitri Bhagat, Mrs. Savita Bai, Mrs. Sadiya Jabee, Mrs. Sangeeta Yadav, Miss Anju Vandana Tirkey, and Miss Pushplata Sidar played vital roles in organizing and coordinating the event, ensuring its smooth execution.
Speaking about the purpose of the initiative, Principal Mr. Gupta said, “The aim of such programmes is not only to educate our students but also to connect the school to the society, fostering a sense of shared responsibility for environmental protection.”
At the end of the programme, all students and staff took a pledge to reduce plastic usage in their daily lives and to spread awareness in their communities for a cleaner and greener planet.
